The Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation

 

The Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation, established by Dr. El Nagi Saghir and a group of committed breast cancer survivors and volunteers in January 2011.

The goals of LBCF include disseminating knowledge and awareness about breast health, promoting early detection and screening for breast cancer, lobbying for better diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients, organizing conferences and media campaigns throughout Lebanon and supporting breast cancer patients psychologically and financially.
LBCF cooperates and partners with the Breast Center of Excellence at the American University of Beirut Medical Center and organizes Breast Cancer Support Groups and has provided financial support for breast cancer patients in need.  LBCF has long-term plans to support breast cancer research projects and clinical trials to serve breast cancer patients and women worldwide.

LBCF has so far supported more than 2500  breast cancer patients.
The patients were assisted towards their chemotherapy treatment, radiotherapy treatment, Laboratory studies, Radiology exams, Mastectomy procedures, Hospitalization, Echocardiography tests. With a total amount of 1,149,463,000 LBP.

52% of these patients were young mothers who were below age 50, and more than half of them lived with less than LBP 750,000 per month.

In addition to year-around awareness lectures, seminars, website and media interventions, LBCF organizes special Pink October Breast cancer Awareness events such as “Pink Raouche”, “the First human pink ribbon in the Middle East”, “Lighting the Sidon Sea Castle in Pink”, “Kirmelik awareness campaign”,”Sahteik Aham Campaign”,and “Fta7la Albak Campaign”No Drama, 5 W Bas, to name a few.

LBCF also organizes special events with Lebanese Associations, Malls and various industries to promote awareness and raise funds for the support of needy patients.
